If you are helping someone navigate anxiety or other life challenges, or you work in a role where this is part of your everyday, these sessions are for you. Hosted by the St Petri Regional Learning Hub, this short course is led by Peter Ellis — an experienced counsellor and schools trainer and educator with InWit Consulting.
About Peter Ellis and InWit Consulting
Peter Ellis is the Principal of InWit Consulting, which he has led for the past 16 years. InWit is a consultancy working across staff counselling, management consultancy, mentoring, and trauma and crisis management – serving corporates, non-government agencies, mining and defence industries, and family therapy clients nationwide. InWit therapists hold qualifications across psychology, social work, occupational therapy, nursing and HR.
Peter has worked for 50 years in sustained and difficult areas such as corrections & child protection, family therapy, industrial trauma and fatalities, children’s deaths, suicide intervention, clinical management and drug and alcohol programs. Peter is a strong advocate of clinical debriefing and supervision. He brings a wealth of knowledge and application of Christian principles
to your toolbox.
Sessions include practical mental health tips and are focused on anxiety, stress, vicarious trauma, and self-care in a clinical supervision context. They are designed for two key groups: teachers, pastors, leaders and pastoral care workers; and parents and families of young people.

How do mental health challenges affect the young people and families around us, and how can we respond well? Topics include:
- Dealing with anxiety and stress in young people
- Mental health practicalities
- Words, actions and their impact on kids and adults

- Looking after yourself
Session 1 — Monday 17 August 2026, 6:30pm–8:30pm // Anxiety and Other Life Issues: Critical Interactions. For those in leadership roles including youth leaders, teachers, pastors, counsellors, pastoral care workers.

Peter wants to invite colleagues into an evening of clinical conversations together, navigating the chaos of hearing the stories of grief and chaos. Topics include:
- How we navigate or live with stories of grief, crisis and painful listening and our exposure to others trauma
- Fatigue and vicarious trauma and secondary responses and vulnerabilities,
- Explore together the psychological, emotional and behavioural responses that have sustained us and are our strengths
- Some questions about what psychological, emotional and behavioural aspects of the work challenge us
- Our life outside of our work and the impact on our wellbeing and family
- How doing therapy can enrich our lives immensely
Peter will explore the psychological, emotional and behavioural responses that sustain us, as well as the challenges that spill into our lives and wellbeing outside of work.
Sessions are held live and face-to-face. They will not be recorded.
