Galatians Part 3
In this session, Pastor Robert focuses on Paul’s strong appeal to the Galatians not to drift back into law based thinking. He explains that Paul’s question, “Who has bewitched you?” is not an insult but a wake up call. The Galatians had begun with the Spirit, having received the gospel through faith, yet they were now being tempted to rely on works of the law. Pastor Robert highlights Abraham as Paul does, showing that righteousness was credited to Abraham because he believed God. Faith, not performance, has always been the foundation of relationship with God.
Pastor Robert carefully walks through the contrast between promise and law. The law reveals sin and exposes our inability to save ourselves, but it was never given as a ladder to climb toward God. Instead, it points forward to Christ. He explains that the promise to Abraham came long before the law and cannot be cancelled by it. The law serves a purpose, but it is temporary and limited. It guards and guides, yet it cannot give life.
The session ends with a powerful reminder of identity. Through faith in Christ, believers are children of God. They are clothed with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, slave nor free, male nor female, for all are one in him. Pastor Robert encourages the congregation to live from this identity rather than striving to earn belonging. The promise fulfilled in Christ is secure, and that security changes how we see ourselves and one another.
